Why do I Care?

Why do I care for anything? Really, I don't know, I just care; I don't want to; I just want to say to all of them - go to hell, but somehow I end up thinking about you, about them about everyone - Why?

My Musings

Sitting today, i was watching the film, sixth sense, by M. Night. Shyamalan and the film did make me wonder whether we are the final and the ultimate example of creation. It set me thinking on a number of topics, all interconnected. It set me thinking on life, birth, death, afterlife, rebirth, religion, the purpose of life, the sagely words of saints, the inevitability of death, the cycle of life namely birth, youth, middle age, old age and death.........and then who knows what after that. These things simply came and kept floating in my mind and left me wondering what is there beyond that we dont know. Do spirits exist? Do things that people say that there are demons, spirits, ghosts.......etc. Are they really there. On one hand, the logical part of you says - no they don't and the other part of you says, yea they do. To speak a fact, while i want to believe and say it out in the open that spirits and ghosts do exist, but i m scared of saying it openly for the fear of being branded as someone who is not rational. So the thoughts of mine remain in my head and i suppose that it is the same for quite a few of them down there.

Thinking again or rather reflecting on the things, one does wonders, what is the rationale behind this creation - i mean to say why is that everything has a fixed life span..........we do know how long on an average a person will live. Why is everything so predictable. Why is life not like nature...........means why doesnt a dog lives long enough as an elephant and why does a dog has a life of a dog in terms of life span. This amazes me, may be science may find an answer to this later on but so far as yet, it is difficult conceptualising what could be behind it. The second thing is we can see, the process of evolution from non living to viruses, from viruses to bacteria, to plants to animals and finally to humans. How can it be possible that evolution stopped here and didnt proceed further. Isn't it possible that just as we are able to recognise forms lower down in hierarchy on the evolutionary scale, so we are not able to recognise other higher life forms......there could be things we dont know about, or we dont know as to how to know them.................that is just a musing.

Cartel and WTO

The price at which the crude oil is selling in the international markets has set the alarm bells ringing. The prime suspect are the OPEC who with their cartelisation have been able to rig the prices as suits their needs. While OPEC maintains that the market is well supplied with oil and the high prices are a result of speculation and geopolitical and natural crises around the world but it yet doesn't explains the fact why has oil reached such a level in such a short time. It looks as if OPEC is trying to find out what is the tolerance level of the world for the prices. USA has cried halt and is bringing a bill to contain the scheming of OPEC, but at the level of WTO, the question arises what one can do?

Reverse Mortagage

It is an instrument to derive cash flows from one's owned house. This instrument is particularly important for the elderly, who have got either no regular source of income or their income is not sufficient to meet their needs, but they have a house in the form of an immovable asset. Before the instrument of reverse mortgage was allowed by the budget 2007, the options that were available with the elderly was either selling the property or giving it out on rent. Thus for an assured monthly income the person had to move out of his home which he naturally would have cherished besides the harrasment of finding a new house with its attendant problems such as security, neighbourhood, rising rent, distance from the people who have been their neighbours for several years. The pain of separation in the Twilight years of one's life can be very taxing. In this situation reverse mortgage becomes very important. The difference between mortgage and reverse mortgage is that while in mortgage one pledges a certain property with the bank for several years in return for a lump sum payment, which has to be payed in instalments over a period of time. In the case of reverse mortgage, the process is the same, but instead of a lumpsum payment, a monthly income is given to the mortgagor, besides him being entitled to live in the house he owns. The mortgagor can live in the house even when the period of his mortgage has expired and he can continue to live in the house till his death. After the death of the mortgagor, the bank takes over the property and gives the option to the legal heirs either to pay off the mortgage with the interest due and take possession of the property or in case of their refusal the bank puts the house on the market and utilises the proceeds to neutralise the mortgage and the balance if left over is credited to the legal heirs. In case of the market value of the property being less than the mortgaged amount, The bank bears the risk and absorbs the loss. Thus reverse mortgage is an instrument for providing security and independence to the elderly. Check out - http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/apr/20perfin.htm

PASSSING OFF(Reverse passing off) - WHAT IS IT

PASSING OFF(Reverse passing off) - WHAT IS IT

Basically it is the use of the trademark of someone else on one' s own product. This naturally assumes that one is not entitled to use that trademark, for if one is entitled to use the trademark then obviously there can be no passing off. Contrasting it with reverse passing off is when one uses the trademark of someone else, as his own, using a "false designation of origin". http://writ.news.findlaw.com/commentary/20030612_sunder.html
